A deep and narrow land lot which could only be accessed through the upper level made this house project 25 m from the mountainside to fulfill the design program requirements. The house is raised off the ground, keeping it almost intact.
The main structural elements are two dense rectangular volumes. One is vertical and contains the stairs that connect the site, the garage, the first floor’s living area and the second floor’s private rooms. The other block is horizontal, supported by two columns, and contains the smaller rooms.
These two big blocks contrast with three horizontal parallel planes. The two larger planes correspond to the living space’s floor and ceiling. The broad overhangs block sunlight in the north and west sides, keeping the house immersed in the landscape.
Besides housing the private rooms, the dense volumes enclose the living space so the interiors are not visible from the street or the higher neighboring property, providing the privacy and comfort the inhabitants need.
